Ingredients

1 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Fresh lemon juice (for serving)

Chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Brussels Sprouts: In a large mixing bowl, combine the halved Brussels sprouts with the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Toss thoroughly to ensure each sprout is evenly coated with the flavorful mixture.

Air Fry the Brussels Sprouts: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Once preheated, carefully arrange the Brussels sprouts in a single layer in the air fryer basket, taking care not to overcrowd them to ensure even cooking. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook them in batches.

Smash Them: After air frying for 10 minutes, gently remove the basket from the air fryer. Use a fork or the bottom of a glass to carefully smash each Brussels sprout, flattening them slightly to create more surface area for crispiness.

Continue Air Frying: Return the smashed Brussels sprouts to the air fryer and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes. Keep an eye on them until they turn a lovely golden brown and develop a crisp texture.

Add Cheese (Optional): If you choose to use Parmesan cheese, sprinkle it generously over the Brussels sprouts during the last 2 minutes of cooking. This will allow the cheese to melt and create a savory crust.

Garnish and Serve: Once they are fully cooked, carefully remove the Brussels sprouts from the air fryer. Drizzle them with fresh lemon juice to enhance their flavor and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley for a vibrant touch.

Enjoy: Serve these crispy, smashed Brussels sprouts hot as a delightful side dish or a nutritious snack that everyone will love!
