Ingredients

4 medium sweet potatoes

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon ground cumin

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon chili powder

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnish (optional)

Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

Prep the Sweet Potatoes: Begin by thoroughly washing the sweet potatoes under cool running water to remove any dirt. Once clean, slice them into thick rounds (about ½ inch), or cut them into wedges if you prefer a different texture.

Create the Marinade: In a large mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, smoked paprika, ground cumin, garlic powder, chili powder, and a generous pinch of salt and pepper. Stir well until all ingredients are blended together into a smooth marinade.

Coat the Sweet Potatoes: Add the sweet potato slices or wedges to the bowl with the marinade. Toss them gently but thoroughly so that each piece is evenly coated. Cover the bowl and let the sweet potatoes marinate for 15-20 minutes, allowing them to soak in all those delicious flavors.

Preheat the Grill: While the sweet potatoes marinate, preheat your grill to medium-high heat. For charcoal grills, ensure that the coals are glowing red and have formed a light ash coating; for gas grills, approximately 375°F to 400°F is ideal.

Grill the Sweet Potatoes: Once the grill is ready, place the sweet potato slices directly on the grates. Grill for about 4-5 minutes on one side, or until you see nice char marks. Carefully flip each piece and grill for an additional 4-5 minutes on the other side. The sweet potatoes are done when they are tender and can be easily pierced with a fork.

Serve: Remove the grilled sweet potatoes from the grill and arrange them on a serving platter. If desired, sprinkle with chopped fresh cilantro for a burst of color and freshness. Serve with lime wedges on the side for a zesty addition.

Enjoy: Serve your Smoky Grilled Sweet Potatoes warm as a flavorful side dish or as a vibrant addition to salads and grain bowls.
