Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef

2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

1 medium onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup beef broth

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 cup cooked rice (optional, for serving)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Beef: Begin by heating 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté for 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the onions are soft and translucent. Next, add the ground beef to the skillet. Use a spatula to break it apart, cooking for approximately 5-7 minutes until it’s browned throughout. Be sure to drain any excess grease from the skillet for a leaner dish.

Season the Mixture: With the beef browned, add in the seasoning. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder. Stir well to ensure the beef mixture is evenly seasoned, allowing the spices to meld with the meat.

Add Broccoli: To the beef mixture, pour in 1 cup of beef broth and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, mixing to combine. Gently fold in the broccoli florets. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender yet crisp. Stir occasionally to avoid any sticking to the bottom of the skillet.

Add Cheese: Once the broccoli is tender, reduce the heat to low. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the beef and broccoli mixture. Cover the skillet again and let it sit for 2-3 minutes, allowing the cheese to melt into a rich, gooey layer on top.

Serve: Remove the skillet from the heat and garnish your delectable dish with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color and freshness. For a heartier meal, serve warm over a bed of cooked rice, if desired.

Presentation Tips: For an appealing presentation, serve in shallow bowls and lay a generous scoop of the beef and broccoli mixture over the rice. Consider adding a sprinkle of additional cheddar or a wedge of broccoli on top for visual flair.
