Ingredients

1 pound ground beef or ground turkey

1 packet taco seasoning (your favorite brand)

12 mini tortilla cups (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup shredded lettuce (green leaf or romaine for crunch)

1 cup diced ripe tomatoes

½ cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Mexican blend)

½ cup sour cream

½ cup guacamole

¼ cup sliced black olives (optional, for added flavor)

Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish

Lime wedges for a zesty serving

Instructions

Cook the Protein: In a large skillet, heat over medium heat. Add the ground beef or turkey and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until it's fully browned and cooked through—approximately 7 to 10 minutes. If there is excess fat, drain it carefully from the skillet.

Season: To the skillet, add the taco seasoning and follow the package's instructions for adding water to create a flavorful sauce. Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer until it thickens, which should take about 5 minutes. Once done, remove from heat and set aside.

Prepare Tortilla Cups: If you’re making homemade tortilla cups, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Use a cookie cutter to cut small circles from the tortillas and press them into a greased muffin tin to form cups. Bake them in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Allow the cups to cool slightly before removing from the tin.

Assemble the Cups: Take a cooled tortilla cup and spoon about a tablespoon of the seasoned meat mixture into the bottom of each cup, filling them generously.

Layer on Fresh Toppings: On top of the meat, evenly distribute the shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and sprinkle the shredded cheese.

Add Creaminess: Top each filled cup with a dollop of sour cream and a hearty scoop of guacamole for added richness and flavor.

Finish with Garnish: If desired, sprinkle sliced black olives and fresh cilantro leaves over the top of the cups to enhance both flavor and presentation.

Serve with Style: Arrange the assembled cups beautifully on a serving platter and include lime wedges on the side for a refreshing, zesty kick.
