Ingredients

1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated flaky-style biscuit dough

1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a healthier alternative)

1/2 cup onion, finely chopped

1/2 cup green bell pepper, finely chopped

1 cup ketchup

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it's hot when you're ready to bake.

Cook the Meat: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef (or turkey) and cook until it's browned, using a spatula to break it into small pieces. If there’s excess fat, drain it from the skillet.

Add Vegetables: Incorporate the finely chopped onion and green bell pepper into the skillet. Sauté them with the meat for about 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender and fragrant.

Mix the Sauce: In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

Combine Ingredients: Pour the sauce mixture over the cooked meat and vegetable medley in the skillet. Stir everything together until all the ingredients are well coated and heated through, about 3 to 5 minutes. Once hot, remove the skillet from heat.

Prepare the Biscuit Cups: Carefully open the can of biscuit dough and separate it into individual biscuits. Flatten each biscuit in your hand before placing it into a greased muffin tin, pressing down gently to mold it into a cup shape.

Fill the Cups: Spoon the delicious sloppy joe mixture into each biscuit cup, filling them near the top.

Add Cheese: Generously sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over each filled biscuit cup, allowing the cheese to melt beautifully while baking.

Bake: Transfer the muffin tin to your preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuit cups turn golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Garnish and Serve: Once baked, remove the muffin tin from the oven and let the cups cool for a few minutes. Carefully take them out of the tin and place on a serving platter. If desired, garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color.

Enjoy: Serve these delightful biscuit cups warm as a tasty appetizer or a creative twist on a classic dinner!
