Ingredients

1 pound ground turkey

1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 can (8 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/4 cup chopped green onions (for garnish)

Cooking spray or olive oil for greasing the baking sheet

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). While it heats, prepare a baking sheet by lightly greasing it with cooking spray or a drizzle of olive oil to prevent sticking.

Cook the Turkey: In a large skillet set over medium heat, add the ground turkey. Using a spatula, break the turkey into smaller pieces as it cooks. Continue cooking for approximately 6-8 minutes, or until the turkey is thoroughly browned and cooked all the way through. If there’s any excess fat, be sure to drain it from the skillet.

Season the Turkey: Once the turkey is cooked, stir in the BBQ sauce along with the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes. This step helps meld the flavors together beautifully.

Prepare the Biscuits: While the turkey mixture is simmering, open the biscuit dough can. Carefully separate each biscuit and place them on a clean surface. Using your hands or a rolling pin, flatten each biscuit into small, round disks approximately 3 inches in diameter.

Assemble the Melts: Arrange the flattened biscuit rounds on the greased baking sheet. Spoon a generous amount of the BBQ turkey mixture into the center of each biscuit, ensuring it’s well-covered while maintaining a small border around the edges. Top each with a handful of shredded sharp cheddar cheese for extra flavor.

Create Biscuit Tops: Using the remaining biscuits, repeat the flattening process as you did earlier. Gently place each flattened biscuit on top of the turkey and cheese layers, pressing around the edges to create a seal.

Bake: Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes. Keep an eye on them, looking for a golden-brown color and ensuring the biscuits are thoroughly cooked.

Garnish and Serve: After baking, allow the melts to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes. For a fresh flair, sprinkle the tops with chopped green onions just before serving.
