Ingredients

1 ripe cantaloupe

1 ripe honeydew melon

8 oz thinly sliced prosciutto

12 fresh basil leaves

1 tablespoon balsamic glaze

Salt and pepper, to taste

12 wooden or metal skewers

Instructions

Prepare the Melons: Begin by slicing the cantaloupe and honeydew melons in half. Using a melon baller or a sharp knife, scoop out bite-sized pieces or cubes from each half. Strive for uniformity in size, as this will help ensure even skewering and a pleasing presentation.

Assemble the Skewers: Take a skewer and start by threading on a piece of honeydew melon. Follow this with a fresh basil leaf, then layer on a slice of prosciutto. Continue to alternate between pieces of cantaloupe and basil leaves (if you’d like extra flavor) until the skewer is filled. Each skewer can comfortably hold 3-4 melon pieces along with 1-2 slices of prosciutto, leaving enough space at both ends to handle the skewer easily.

Season the Skewers: Once you’ve assembled all the skewers, sprinkle them lightly with salt and pepper. This simple seasoning will enhance the overall flavors of the dish.

Drizzle with Balsamic Glaze: Place the assembled skewers on a serving platter. Drizzle the top with balsamic glaze, which will add a delicious layer of sweetness and tang, marrying all the flavors beautifully.

Serve and Enjoy: These skewers can be enjoyed right away, or you can chill them in the refrigerator for a brief period before serving if you prefer them cold. They make for an ideal refreshing appetizer or a delightful party snack!
