Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

1 pound ground beef or ground turkey

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup finely chopped green onions (plus extra for garnish)

1/4 cup crushed pineapple, well-drained

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the Teriyaki Sauce:

1/2 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup honey or brown sugar

1/4 cup rice vinegar

2 tablespoons cornstarch, mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon minced garlic

1 teaspoon grated ginger

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

    - Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper to make cleanup a breeze.

      Prepare the Meatball Mixture:

        - In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the ground beef (or turkey), breadcrumbs, chopped green onions, crushed pineapple, minced garlic, egg, soy sauce, grated ginger, salt, and black pepper. Ensure all ingredients are mixed well for uniform flavor.

          Form Meatballs:

            - Using your hands, scoop and shape the mixture into small meatballs, approximately 1 inch in diameter. Place the formed meatballs evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet.

              Bake the Meatballs:

                - Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until they are cooked through and exhibit a slightly golden brown color.

                  Make the Teriyaki Sauce:

                    - While the meatballs are baking, prepare the teriyaki sauce. In a medium saucepan set over medium heat, combine the soy sauce, honey (or brown sugar), rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Stir well until all ingredients are smoothly blended.

                      Thicken the Sauce:

                        - Allow the mixture to come to a gentle simmer. Gradually whisk in the cornstarch-water mixture and continue stirring for about 2-3 minutes, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.

                          Coat the Meatballs:

                            - Once the meatballs are thoroughly cooked, remove them from the oven. Transfer the meatballs to a large bowl and pour the hot teriyaki sauce over them. Toss gently to ensure each meatball is evenly coated in the flavorful sauce.

                              Serve:

                                - Arrange the glazed meatballs on a serving platter. For an appealing finish, sprinkle with sesame seeds and additional chopped green onions before serving. Enjoy your delightful dish warm!
