Ingredients

For the Burger Patties:

1 lb ground beef or ground turkey

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup finely chopped green onions

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon salt

For the Teriyaki Sauce:

1/2 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

1 clove garlic, minced

1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (optional, for thickening)

For Assembly:

4 slices of fresh pineapple, grilled

4 slices of cheddar cheese (optional)

4 brioche burger buns

Lettuce leaves

Sliced tomatoes

Sliced red onions

Additional teriyaki sauce for drizzling

Instructions

Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce:

    - In a small saucepan heated over medium heat, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic. Stir the mixture gently and bring it to a gentle simmer, allowing the flavors to meld together.

      - If you desire a thicker consistency, combine the cornstarch with water to create a slurry, then add it to the sauce. Stir continuously until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool.

        Make the Burger Patties:

          - In a spacious mixing bowl, blend together the ground beef or turkey, breadcrumbs, chopped green onions, minced garlic, soy sauce, black pepper, and salt. Mix until every ingredient is well incorporated.

            - Shape the mixture into 4 equal patties, making a small indentation in the center of each patty to ensure even cooking.

              Preheat the Grill:

                - Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If you’re opting for a grill pan, allow it to heat over medium heat on the stovetop.

                  Grill the Patties:

                    - Place the formed burger patties on the preheated grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes, then flip each patty. Generously brush the top side of each patty with the prepared teriyaki sauce before cooking for an additional 4-5 minutes. If you’re adding cheese, place a slice atop each patty during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.

                      Grill the Pineapple:

                        - While the patties are grilling, add the pineapple slices to the grill. Grill them for approximately 2-3 minutes on each side until they exhibit nice grill marks and caramelization.

                          Construct the Burgers:

                            - Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill for added texture. On the bottom half of each toasted bun, layer a crisp lettuce leaf, followed by a teriyaki-glazed burger patty, a grilled pineapple slice, fresh tomato slices, and thinly sliced red onion. Drizzle with additional teriyaki sauce as desired before placing the top half of the bun to complete the assembly.

                              Serve:

                                - Serve the burgers immediately, pairing them with a side of crispy sweet potato fries or a refreshing salad for a perfect meal.

                                  Prep Time, Total Time, Servings:

                                    15 minutes | 30 minutes | 4 servings

Enjoy your deliciously savory and sweet burgers that transport your taste buds to a tropical paradise!
