Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef

2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

1 cup jasmine or basmati rice

2 cups beef broth (or water)

1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

Optional: sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

Cook the Rice: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of rice and 2 cups of beef broth (or water). Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover with a lid, and simmer for about 15-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and all the liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat and fluff the rice with a fork. Set aside to keep warm.

Sauté the Beef: In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef to the skillet, cooking and breaking it up with a spatula until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease if necessary to keep the dish from becoming too oily.

Add Broccoli: Once the beef is browned, stir in the broccoli florets. Cover the skillet with a lid and allow it to cook for about 5 minutes (if using fresh broccoli), or just until warmed through (for frozen broccoli), until it becomes tender and bright green.

Season the Mixture: To the skillet, add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of garlic powder, 1 tablespoon of onion powder, along with salt and pepper to taste. Stir everything together well and let it cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Combine with Rice: Gently fold the cooked rice into the beef and broccoli mixture in the skillet. Stir to combine all ingredients evenly, ensuring the rice is well incorporated with the beef and broccoli.

Melt the Cheese: Evenly sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the rice and vegetable mixture in the skillet. Cover the skillet with a lid for about 2-3 minutes, allowing the cheese to melt into a gooey, delicious layer.

Serve: Once the cheese has melted, remove the skillet from the heat. Use a large spoon to scoop generous portions into bowls. Garnish each serving with sliced green onions if desired for an added crunch and freshness.

                  - Presentation Tips: For an appealing presentation, consider serving the rice bowl in deep dishes for a restaurant-style look, and arrange the sliced green onions in a circular fashion on top of the melted cheese.
