Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup water

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 tablespoon granulated sugar (plus additional for coating)

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 cup granulated sugar (for cinnamon sugar coating)

Cooking spray or a drizzle of olive oil (for air frying)

Optional: Chocolate sauce for dipping

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a medium saucepan, add the water, unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and salt. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until it reaches a boil.

Incorporate the Dry Ingredients: As soon as the mixture is boiling, remove the saucepan from the heat. Quickly add the all-purpose flour and baking powder, stirring vigorously until a cohesive dough forms. Allow the dough to cool for approximately 5 minutes.

Shape the Chips: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). On a clean, lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, slice the dough into small triangles or squares for your churro chips.

Air Fry the Chips: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or drizzle with olive oil. Place the shaped dough pieces in a single layer in the basket, making sure they do not overlap. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, or until the chips are golden brown and crispy.

Coat with Cinnamon Sugar: While the churro chips are air frying, prepare the cinnamon sugar. In a shallow dish, combine the remaining 1/4 cup of granulated sugar with the ground cinnamon. As soon as the chips are finished, remove them from the air fryer and immediately toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until they are fully coated.

Cool and Serve: Transfer the churro chips to a wire rack and let them cool for a few minutes. Serve them warm on a platter, either on their own or with a side of chocolate sauce for dipping!
